Die Europäische Wildkatze oder Waldkatze (Felis silvestris silvestris) ist die Nominatform der Wildkatze, die in Westeuropa von Schottland bis Portugal und in Osteuropa bis zum Kaukasus vorkommt. Da sie zu den am weitesten verbreiteten Katzen gehört, wird sie in der Roten Liste der IUCN seit 2002 als Nicht gefährdet (Least Concern) geführt.
Die Europäische Wildkatze wurde durch die Deutsche Wildtier Stiftung als Tier des Jahres 2018 ausgewählt
