This is not good! they can be so dangerous,
especially if they have gotten used to people
feeding them. Dangerous for them too, with
traffic and not fearing cars. They will turn
on you in a moment and their bite is really
bad, bad for people's dogs too, they are
fearless about attacking dogs and people.
living in Outside Lands/Sunset/OceanSide - I
have definitely seen packs of these masked
bandits - often in groups of 3 - 5, scurrying
very close to houses - i mean, you walk out
of your door without looking and you're
stepping on one of them.
Tango is right - they may be cute - but
they're mean as f##!
Marina chicks, texting while they're speeding
thru intersections in their Range Rovers,
mowing down unwitting pedestrians, are cute
but dangerous too. Neither group should be fed or encouraged.
The little gang should be allowed on. Hell,
they are less likely to start a fight and
would pay the two bucks, take the trash off
the bus, and eat any food left over from
other Muni patrons.
Besides, they're raccoons. They wash
themselves! Unlike some Muni riders....
Holy crap that is incredible. About 15 years
ago we used to leave dry food out in a dish
on our back porch for our cats that roamed in
and out all day. And many times we'd sit
there with the back door open when it was
warn and sit in the kitchen. One night a
whole posse of raccoons strolled into our
kitchen like it was no big deal and started
eating the cat food and just chilled in the
kitchen with us. It was surreal.
no, the raccoons are used to clean the bus,
they clean up all the trash and food
wrappers. this makes it easier for the bus
driver because he does not have to clean it
at the end of his shift.

OMG. This is amazing. They must be used to the bus driver feeding them?
Stephen Thomson (Plomomedia.com) (46 months ago | reply)
it's a city-wide initiative: raccoons ride free after midnight.

I once spotted a gang of 8 raccoons walking the streets in Potrero Hill when I was walking home. So this doesn't surprise me at all.
