Memorial Sculpture dedicated to Michael Swigart, Twentynine Palms, CA.

Memorial Sculpture dedicated to Michael Swigart, Twentynine Palms, CA. by Michael R. Swigart.
The sculpture is 20 feet high and sits on the median that leads to the Twentynine Palms entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. Michael loved the work of this artist, Simi Dabah, who graciously donated the piece. Michael started the "Art in Public Places" program, which has dedicated its first piece in his memory.
The city held a well-attended sunset dedication ceremony on March 20.

Is that you, Nicole? Thank you very much for posting this. Those of us who never met Michael, but were inspired and encouraged by him will always hold him in high esteem.

I'm very happy to know that his community also holds him in high esteem.

Bless you, girl.

Yes, I uploaded these. I thought Michael's flickr friends would enjoy knowing about this.

The community misses his wise presence and it is wonderful that a permanent memorial was dedicated to Michael's memory in a town he loved.

So many people on flickr are enjoying MIchael's photographs, it's very cool.

Thanks for posting this memorial sculpture to Michael. I have become an assistant administer to the pool he started in Alamos, Mexico. I still enjoy looking at all his photos of Alamos. He has been a real inspiration to my photography in Alamos. I never got to meet him in person but thanks to you I know something about him.

Michael would be thrilled to see that his flickr site and photos generate the interest and inspiration they do. Yesterday his site had 1,400 photos viewed.
Alamos was very important to him -- part of his family history took place there.
Twentynine Palms loved him and wanted to memorialize him.
Michael is missed.
