Lawrence Iron Works
Lawrence KS Walkabout - August 23, 2008
17th and Rhode Island?
Lawrence Iron Works was one of several manufacturing companies created by Justin De Witt Bowersock. These businesses sprung from Bowersock being allowed to dam the Kansas river in order to generate electricity. He was also a congressman for four terms (1899-1907).
And his company made cool manhole covers!

Thank you for the comments! It helped that the cover had a sweet pattern forged into it to begin with. :D
