Rare leaf of the Quran
A rare leaf of one of the earliest Qurans dating back to the 1st century of Islam corresponding to the 7/8th century AD on display at the Global Peave and Unity event in London, by Exhibition Islam
Handwritten in the Ma'il script on leather without the diacritical marks (dots and dashes above/ below). This is one of the local scripts of the Hijaz region, the region in which Mecca and Medina are located.
One of the 'miracles' of the Quran is that it's text has not changed once since revealed to Prophet Muhammad by Angel Gabriel over 1400 years ago, making it one of the most unique religious revelations to mankind. Just a shame about some peoples misinterpretations and abuses of the Quran text to support their confused understanding of Islam, and may God Almighty have mercy and guide us all, amen.
This is Chapter 7 verse 20, which reads in English:
"Then began satan to whisper suggestions to them bringing openly before their minds all their shame that was hidden from them (before): he said "Your Lord only forbade you this tree lest ye should become angels or such beings as live for ever."" - i.e. the story of Prophet Adam and Eve and their being tempted to eat from the forbidden tree.
