Shoebox Slide Duplicator 1 of 3

Shoebox Slide Duplicator 1 of 3 by svofski.
A better "DSLR Scanner". A lens (or a macro lens, or a lens with extension rings) is inserted in the circular hole in front. A negative holder made of two sheets of vinyl with spacers is at the opposite end. After film is inserted, the box is closed and camera is aligned.

Since any remote source of light will be hopelessly out of focus in such setup, no special diffuser is really necessary. I normally use LCD display.

Light seems to be uneven in your scans. Do you have any ideas why this could be so?

Those are really good results. Congratulations. It's a really intelligent design. I will try it
The unevenly light on my photos is produced by the texture of the paper placed behind the film to filter the light, but the results were not as expected.
It just "kind of works" with some pinhole experiments.

Try to:
1) remove the paper: instead of diffusing light it introduces high frequencies
2) use backlighting that's naturally even, why not use your computer display: set it to display plain white image and that's it
3) if you do auto-levels, don't include the sprockets area into calculation: the whites and blacks in that area overwhelm the rest of the image
