Baboon

Baboon

Selous, Tanzania

I spent three weeks in Tanzania recently with my fiancee and two friends. We had a great time and met a lot of different creatures both human and not so human. There will be plenty of uploads in the coming weeks from this trip and I thought I would start things off with an animal theme, sort of. Be warned however, I´m not a nature photographer. At all.

The Baboon. They can be found all across Africa and are usually considered pests for the human population as they sometimes feed on goats and other livestock. Curiously they are according to egyptian mythology a sacred animal, protectors of Thoth the diety overseing the battles between good and evil.

Roughly two million impala's can be found in Africa. The name impala comes from the Zulu language meaning "gazelle".

Out on safari in the Selous game reserve we stumbled upon four lionesses resting on top of a small hill. According to our guide they had eaten recently and were now busy digesting for a couple of days.
