Top of the World

Top of the World

This is an early morning shot of the San Juans. Sorry that I post so many of this area, but it is so beautiful. This is near the top of Dallas Divide.

Although we have not had a severe winter, I am looking forward to seeing the Lupine blooming this spring.

It has warmed up, I haven't had to break the ice for the horses this week. All of the farmers are plowing in our area and I have seen a couple of grain fields that are already planted. A few are burning ditches, a sure sign that spring is near.

Tree Frame

Tree Frame

Here is something a little different for me. I have always loved digital art and become more of a photographer because of my interest in that. This tree is near my home and it is intriguing to me. I seem to take a photo or two every time I drive by.

This particular morning there was some fog and the far off tree seemed to be like a dream.

Thanks for stopping by,
Susan

Rams

Rams

In 2008 I had the treat of my life when out in the Nevada desert we ran into this herd of Nelson's Bighorn sheep. It was early in the spring and they were just shedding their winter coats. They were in good shape and they had horns. There are 12 of them.

I was able to spend about 11/2 hours with these rams. I was able to walk within 15 yards of them several times. Finally they ran up on this ridge and turned around to watch as we finally drove away.

They are all mature rams, with only a couple exceptions. They were breathtaking and I still revisit these photos often, I wish I would have had my present day cameras that day. I think this was the turning point for me to become more interested in photography!

Thanks for looking and I love your comments.

Sharp Shinned Devil

Sharp Shinned Devil

As far as I can tell this is a Sharp Shinned Hawk, please let me know if this is incorrect. This little devil has spent the winter a my bird feeder, feeding on song birds and a quail or two. I have attempted to take a photo of him for several weeks. A couple of mornings back I was having coffee and noticed that he was sunning himself on a rock in my yard about 15 yards away.

After a couple of shots through the glass, I stepped out on the porch and snapped away. The sun must have felt so good that he seemed to not even give me a seconds glance. He seemed to be watching for mice or song birds. He was there for 30 minutes or more.

I enjoyed being able to watch him, with enough time to learn some of his habits. Very interesting and very fun even if he does eat a few sparrows.

Dock

Dock

Another Confluence sunset that I took a week ago. It was a warm evening and there were two fishermen on the end of the dock. I still can't believe what a beautiful place this was on this particular evening.

Thanks for enjoying this photo with me,
Susan
