Grandma Hall at age 24 steppin' out to the Coshocton County Fair in 1934. Today would have been her 95th birthday!! She's my mother's mother and was my babysitter when I was young and mom was working. If I remember correctly, my mom is the one who hand colored the image on the right when she was a little girl.
She spent a lot of time reading and gardening and she also liked to paint. She always had a painting she was working on in the basement and I would "secretly help her" (read: butcher them) when she was too busy to work on them, but she never got mad at me. Whenever I was sick she would give me paragoric, bascially opium!
On thursdays, she and her fabulous sister, my Aunt Mimi, would put on their pantsuits and wigs and go grocery shopping. Aunt Mimi and Uncle Ed would pick us up in his killer baby blue 60s thunderbird and we would get lunch at the Elks first. Aunt Mimi always ordered me a shirley temple. They were some fun gals!
Editor's Note: county fair attire has really changed.
