was at an opening at the city museum a few nights ago...
this was one of the most fun works in the show.

no idea who did it, no labels were up yet.

My vote is for photoshopped. This looks like a compilation of aircraft photos taken from many different angles and in various stages of takeoff and landing. Many of the aircraft positions and angles are not consistent with the apparent runway direction. It's also clear that a great deal of these aircraft are landing, not taking off. Few of the aircraft are to scale with each other, even considering the possiblity of two parallel runways. It is unlikely that all of these different aircraft types, all taking off at different speeds, different weights, and having different performance envelopes would evenly distribute themselves along a predictable corridor like this. There are also several airlines represented in this picture that would not be seen at the airport depicted.

That being said, it's still a pretty cool picture.

er-minio, sorry, i wish i knew who the creator was, whoever he/she is, is totally brilliant and has a wicked sense of humour. i was at the opening until it closed at 8pm and the labels were still not up yet, sadly.

A beautful collage, no doubt. I doubt it's real though. There are certain aircraft there that are very unlikely to appear at that airport, at least not on routine service.

The one labeled as 'hot doggin' is a Dash-8, that made me smile because they really do fly like that, and I love them. The problem is that it's an Air New Zealand Dash-8... not likely to be in Hanover.

Also the Southwest 737... Are they not a strictly domestic airline in the USA? The Cessna 152... unusual at such a bit airport.

I think this photo is designed to be enjoyed for its nice composition and colour. It's not presented as 'factual' in the sense that it's not the result of standing in one place all day snapping pictures of everything that flies past.

It's a great idea though, I might try it at Sydney International some day.
