See, in this context "bridge driver" referred to the guy who drove the movable walkway up to the plane so that we could de-plane. Therefore, the analogy of "we get signal," aka a method of communication, holds up in "we get bridge driver," who is in his or her own way ultimately responsible for our ability to depart.
