I've always been a fan of painter Jack Vettriano. His style can best be summed up as similar to that of Mad Men. They seem to both be of the same era. I've somewhat dappled in the Mad Men style over the years, but never too seriously. The thing is, I never considered dappling in Jack's style. Probably because he was a painter. It wasn't until one of my flickr contacts, Shelly~♥, posted a photo in which she was emulating a Vettriano painting. The lightbulb came on, and I decided to give it a shot a few weeks back with this one....we own the sky for the group Me Again Monday.
At some point flickrmails were thrown back and forth regarding Jack and his normal inclusion of multiple people in a given painting, and one of us, suggested a collaborative effort to each emulate a portion of a Vettriano painting. In essence, each of us did 1/2 of it and combined it in post production. And this is the result. It was also decided to use a little artistic license and modify the scene a bit to suite the medium we used as well as making the emulation something we created as opposed to just a copy. So, here are the results, one in my stream and A Very Married Woman II in Shelly's stream which you really should check out.
A bit difficult to pull off when you're off by 4 timezones and using both Canon and Nikon cameras with slightly different crop factors. The results were composed in both Lightroom and Photoshop to achieve the final product.
