I Will Miss Him
We had to say goodbye to T.J. this weekend. We were 1,500 miles away, but I know it was the right thing to do. Friday evening he started having seizures at puppy camp, and neither an on-call vet nor an emergency vet could get them under control. I hope he had as much fun over the last 14 years with us as we had with him.
I will miss the way he gives hugs by pressing his cheek against mine.
I will miss his patience and the way he would wait quietly in his bed for a treat to be delivered to him.
I will miss his sense of time. He went to bed every night at 10 on the dot, whether the rest of us did or not.
I will miss watching his morning routine with Cole, paws up on Cole's knees with a happy tail, just saying "good morning."
I will miss the way he pranced around the house like a dog of royal descent.
I will miss his Elvis lip, his velvet-soft coat and his sweet snore.
