Nuclear Allure by jameshill

Nuclear Allure

We're in one of the most stunningly beautiful regions of France, if not the world.

The Loire Valley is dotted with inspiring many an inspiring château and yet every day as we return to our small bed and breakfast we pass this 50's (still operational) Nuclear Power Station.

The plumes of cloud draw me in, intrigue races through my mind about the nuclear fission that lurks beyond the forbidden fence. Are there people walking around wearing hard-hats (simpson-esqu/dr evil lair style) or is just a normal work place for every day joe's with advanced physics degrees?

It's strange to see such a stark juxtaposition, well to an Australian at least. We seem to put our power stations out-back woop-woop, where they don't interfere with Australia's tourism dollar.

However I love the real-ness this is, It's beautiful. I love it.

Pingyao International Photography Festival by jameshill

Pingyao International Photography Festival

Think of twenty or so old communist factories, disposed of their original workforce and machinery, in their place thousands upon thousands of varying levels of photographic works.

This festival is one strange experience for a westerner. Along with the artwork you'll find thousands of documentary chinese press photographers, all photographing each other... we asked why, and in short... Propaganda was the unified response.

As we wonder the streets we're on average photographed by no less than ten people, at once I counted 32 photographs huddled around a German Exhibitor, his only mistake that he stood poetically in the light of the ventilation fan pictured above.
