she's wearing a classic Nepali women's blouse - and the green (or sometimes red or yellow) beads are the Nepali mangalsutra (marriage necklace). --When they can afford it, there is a big chunk of gold attached to the beads.

Oh Thank you very much for that info, I didn't know that! I have seen many women wearing them in that region, Now I know

Maybe she had to sell the other nosering when times got hard.

May be I can share what little I know about this beautiful lady ..
She lives in a small village, named Darap in Sikkim, and speaks only Nepalese; I regret that I don't know this language and was unable to talk to her; our driver said she belongs to Limbu clan;
Anyway, when we met; she was about to go out with a big basket and a sickle, there were few small children in the small (but good looking) hut. This was her age of playing with her great grandchildren as I would expect but she had a blind grand daughter; who is older than the children, may be sixteen or seventeen and looked like were responsible for the kids; there was another girl slightly older and she was around the kitchen....no men were around. After I took few photos there, she went ahead with her business in hand....with the basket and sickle;
still as calm and elegant as she was through out ... and I respected her.
(she didn't dress up for me to be photographed; she was already dressed that way when we met)
