There's Something Free Inside of Me

There's Something Free Inside of Me

Wall-hanging
19 x 12
I've been salivating on a book of Pucci patterns and it had an influence on this piece. I'm also a huge fan of surrealism: I love their use of hidden and incongruous symbols. Their work is meaty; so much to see and puzzle over.
Since hearts are regularly dismissed as overdone and/or sappy, it was important to me to convey the complex, idiosyncratic, and exuberant nature of the symbol.
Ceramic, glass, smalti, millefiore.
