I'm starting to like the combination of a polarizer filter and unnecessary HDR. It gives pics a very snappy, contrasty feeling like chrome film. I think this looks very close to Fuji Velvia (50), with a polarizer and the old trick of setting the iso to 64 to underexpose it a little for increased saturation. I may have to do a direct comparison next time we have nice clouds.

Nice photo and description, I think I'll try your ideas. The area looks familiar, is it near Carson City or Sparks?

My dad used to be a Special Effects/Pyro guy for Universal Studio's movies and television. I spent a lot of time on different sets when I was a kid, and they had this exact feel to them. The foreground looks like a carefully laid out sound stage set with studio lighting... very, very cool. The backdrop sky is so fantastically intense. Really nice job, 'Face.
