This is one of our small flock of ducks at home… And they’re probably the strangest ducks I have ever encountered… Not only do they perch* on things, as can be seen in this photo (having large, flat feet designed for paddling in water, most ducks don’t, or indeed can’t, perch), but they are also pretty crazy too; for example, they walk around making hissing sounds and bobbing their heads up and down like they’re a bunch of small, feathered rockers.
*When I say they perch, I mean they try to perch. As they’re still ducks, they have a tendency to be highly unstable when they’re doing so! But full marks for trying, I suppose.
They are also incredibly cheeky birds, and have also taken to sitting on top of cars and messing them up (considerably). Despite our best efforts, dissuading them does not really seem possible, so they’re either entirely set in their ways, or just like annoying us and being mischievous. I suspect the latter.
They are Muscovy Ducks, and I must say that while it's not the most radical I've seen in a bird, you've gotta love the hairstyle this one's got going on!
