Bella Love

Bella Love by studio583art.
A Bella Thank You

I’m so sorry it’s taken so long for us to log back on here and say thank you for all the wonderful comments and notes we received.

As you can imagine, it has been extremely hard, we so miss our girl, our third companion in crime. We never thought of her as our pet, rather she was always our third partner in every crazy adventure we always seem to find ourselves in. She was the one that could makes us smile and laugh no matter what we were doing or what was happing around us and in so many ways, she always kept us out of trouble, alway kept us grounded.

It’s so hard to know where to go from here, we have not been able to put any of her things away yet, her beds…her toys..her waterbowls, they are all still out as if she will be back tomorrow. No, we are not kidding ourselves, we know we will have to put it all away at some point, but seeing it there right now sometimes help as strange as that may sound. And yes we have our memories, our stories and we have have so many friends who have spent time with us to listen, to make sure we have a shoulder to get through this. There is so much missing without her but I think what I miss more than anything, the one thing I can never get back no matter how deep in my head I go…is her smell. Her wonderful cinnamon/sweet smell. It was always at the top of her head, that cranial crest like so many weimes have, hers always had this strange but wonderful cinnamon/sweet smell and her toes always smelled like corn chip, but that’s was just another one of those things that made her so funny – corn chip feet and cinnamon/sweet head. I miss that smell, or rather I guess out of everything that I so miss about her, that is definitely one of the top.

She was such a huge part of our art (we have had many other artist, collectors and gallery owner call and tell us how much impact she had for them and us), that we are working on having a piece of art made especially to hold her remains. This way she will always be apart of what we do.

Thank you Susan…Jill…delarever…Anji & Mukha…Carrie, Kyle & Casey Blue…Alisa, Willow, & Luna…Stephanie, Jaeger, Stella & Nina…Erin, Jaeger, & Natasha…Kia, Lylah, Mindy & Nate…Pauline & Max…m+m+t Mac & Tosh…bonita1999…aliywhilly, Whilly…currentclassics

Thank you all and many more, you have touched our hearts with your kindness and love.

We are not sure if we will be able to post about OOna the evil mastermind any time soon, it is hard to really get into wanting to post right now. OOna is healthy, doing great and still working on her plans to take over the world, though her humans are not much help to her with the execution of her plans right now, she is being understanding and misses her big sister too (she still looks for Bella).

Thank you again, and take care.

Gwen and Scott, just reading this made me cry. I know exactly what you mean about not putting Bella's things away. You don't have to for a long time. I still sleep with Tess' collar and favorite orange ball on the pillow next to mine. I love to smell her collar right before I go to sleep because I can still smell that lovely smell of her on it, so I can absolutely relate to what you're going tru. I think the worst part is how quiet the house is without them, and expecting them to come around the corner at any moment. Gracie fills my time so that I am not as sad, and I hope that OOna is trying to keep you company and busy as well. When the pain is not so fresh, remember that your flickr friends are all here for you and enjoy all of your posting so much. I can't tell you how much laughter and big smiles all of the Bella and OOna postings have brought me. If you ever need anything, I am always here for you. Bella was the luckiest dog in the entire world to have been with you both.

You picked a beautiful photo of her for this post. I'm sorry for your loss, we've been thru it in the past and know how hard it is. I think you were fortunate to have each other.

even more temporary than our own

the necessary plan.

So sorry. So sorry. I looked in from time to time to see your girl knowing her age, and the wonderful care she received. I know what you mean about the smell. I felt the same way about my Wiem too. Time heals, the memories are wonderful. Wishing you healing.

Thank you for the update Scott & Gwen, I know this is a hard time for you both. Tears are flowing again reading this post, No one will think your kidding yourself if you leave Bella's things out, I'm sure given the situation & the bond you so closley had it will never be easy to do that & there is nothing wrong with that!
Glad to hear that Oona is healthy and hope that she can put some smiles on your faces. Once again, as I have said many times before you are both amazing and Oona & Bella are both blessed to have/had you in their lives.

So sad, Gwen. So many of us know exactly how you feel. That scent becomes a part of you, it's so evoctive. Bella was a gift to all of us and she'll always be a part of our memories. These milestones, sad as they are, have a way of guiding you (or in my case, flinging you) to the next step and you with your insight, creativity and dedication to Bella will find a path. In fact, so will OOna! Be afraid...
The dog friends who have passed through my life repose in a memorial garden in my yard, each with a rosemary bush "for remembrance." It is both a tribute and a place for peace or meditation. Outside, where the dogs liked to be most, I find it a pleasant place to enjoy the memories.

i'm so sorry :( it's just the most painful experience to have to live through. i do hope you guys are hangin in there.
mukha's hands and feet frequently smell like cornchips too, sometimes i think she smells warm like sunshine (she definitely feels like it), and sometimes she smells sweet like flowers and grass. i would definitely miss those smells.
i don't think i have that attachment to her overall smell though. when i read this at the time when you posted it, i went and sniffed her, searching for the smell you talked about! i actually felt a little bad, cause i love her more than anything in the world and we are always together, but i don't know her smell?! maybe if it went away (please stay!!) i would know and miss it.
i still try to smell her and think of bella and you guys every time! i did notice her eyes smell a little sweet and spicy.
poor chanhi's ears used to smell like blueberries and mushrooms.

get better gwen, scott and even oona too :)
keep her toys. oona (and you) can play with them!

I was the exact same way after Patches died and left everything just as it was. I know that everyone is different and that it's too hard for some people to look at the things that remind them of their loved one, but for me, it would have been even more painful to get rid of those things or even to put them away. It was comforting to me to look down at his bed and see the brownish spot on the blanket where he slept...that wasn't getting washed anytime soon...and I would curl up on it and try to smell whatever lingered of him there and on his collar. It seems that smell is such a big part of our memory because in the last couple of hours that I spent with him before letting him go, I just kept holding his head and kissing him and thinking about how much I was going to miss his puppy smell. His feet smelled like Fritos..."fritoes", too, and as much of a nuisance as all of those little white hairs were, they were also a comfort when he was gone. I, too, chose to have him cremated so that he will always be with me, and so that he can be with me when I'm buried or cremated, whichever, so that we will be together again on earth and in heaven. I'm sure that her custom made urn will be a beautiful piece of art just like she was. I will miss the great Belladini of the many blankets...I always loved how she had so many different blankets!
