Near-realtime BA ad

Near-realtime BA ad by adamgreenfield.
I was floored by this ad in last Tuesday's "Telegraph."

Text of ad: "YESTERDAY AT T5 AVERAGE TIME THROUGH SECURITY WAS 4.7 MINS This picture was taken at 9:44am yesterday and shows Amanda Gemmill on her way to Beijing to watch her boyfriend compete in the Men's Eight Rowing Final. 4.7 minutes was the average time the 842 customers we asked told us it took them to pass through Security yesterday, between 6am and 2pm. We had to stop at 2pm so we could make this ad."

Data-driven, near-realtime advertising, not so very far from the Times Square that Matt Worsnick and Evan Allen envisioned for their GSAPP class and that I discussed in "Urban Computing and its Discontents," www.lulu.com/content/1554599

Well, it's either realtime advertising, or extremely good copy :)

"Any sufficiently advanced copy is indistinguishable from technology," perhaps?

But despite its genius, this ad doesn't really make me want to go through Heathrow. It rings of Monty Python's "not dead yet!"

The ad's inherent desperation is stipulated. Nevertheless, desperate times call for desperate measures. : . )
