This beautiful and ornate statue represents the bodhisattva Mahachakra Vajrapani.
It is fashioned from copper, with gilt, paint, turquoise, and coral insets.
This statue has always been another favorite of mine at the Glenbow; it is ferocious, dramatic, erotic, ornate, beautiful, and filled with amazing details!
If anyone has any further info about this sculpture and the figures it represents, please share, you will have my gratitude!
(I am thinking of you here, annette! Hehehe.)
This statue is in the Many Faces, Many Paths: Art of Asia wing of the Glenbow Museum.
