I heard from some British friends that these are disappearing more and more all over London… I guess they are all just so old and the telephone company is removing the older ones… is this true, or is it an urban myth? I was reminded of Banksy above because he did a cool piece of art with one of these. And, I figured, we have so many readers from London, that one of you would know he truth!

In the US they're disappearing too. Phone companies just aren't interested in building them, and in a large part, they're not needed/wanted by the public. There was a big deal made when the last phonebooth in the dc metro area was removed (somewhere in NOVA, if I'm not mistaken.) It's kind of sad, but they really belong in museums.

Years ago I was in southern England with my grandma , and she told me the same.. I hope they will survive, they are such a wonderful landmark :)
