This is one of the main canals by the train station. All the little homes lean in different directions, with most of them leaning out over the canal from a slow sink over the years.

The forward slant of the houses is not caused by sinking over the years, but was a conscious decision during the construction. It facilitated the hoisting of goods, prevented the façade from getting dirty (bird droppings etc.) and made the building look more impressive when seen from below.
