The Magic of Shanghai

It was well after sundown when I finished some meetings, so I went down to the Bund to take some shots across the river of Shanghai. Even in the middle of the night, the river was full of boats coming and going, all lit up with various festive colors. Everything had an electric feel and I very much enjoyed walking up and down the river as the lights changed and new boats came and went...

You might just want to put all of your Apple purchases on e-bay. I kinda doubt they will be around much longer (i say two years).

CEO and Apple, Inc co-founder Steve Jobs prognosis is terrible. The doctors who once said 6 months or less to live due to his recurring cancer of the pancreas, now give him 3 months or less to live.

Will Apple survive?

Unequivocally no. No chance in hell. There is no leader in place to take over and it's obvious the iconoclastic Steve Jobs was the heart and soul of the company. He was irreplaceable. That we all know.

My father once told me that out of every bad thing there is opportunity for a good thing to happen. The really great news out of all of this is that Microsoft, Blackberry, LG (phones), Samsung, PC manufacturers and Microsoft's Zune Mp3 player will explode with great earnings as well as they should. They won't have to worry about the competition coming from Apple so there is good in all of this.

Oh, my goodness... this is one of your shots (and there are plenty, as so many who visit your photostream would attest, I'm sure) that just left me saying, "Ooooooooooooh...." as it opened and I first viewed it. The composition, the vibrant glow of the cityscape, the light reflecting so deep-and-wide on the water -- all combine to make this a mesmerizing capture! Enthralling, indeed!

(My daughter was blessed following her freshman year at college a few years ago to visit China for a couple of weeks and spent a portion of that in Shanghai. She had quite a range of stories to tell, but I am sure she would find this photo breathtaking, too -- thus I will send her the link.)
