Alone in Winter, Against the World... (and I am selling my camera on eBay)

This is one desolate place.

It's the southern coast of Iceland where the sea and the wind were absolutely ripping their way past me and the lighthouse. I always imagine what it is like to be inside of one of those lighthouses, all night long through the winter. I can't even envision what that would be like, and after only a short time there in the icy wind, I got the willies and was happy to get out of there.

Also, for something completely different, my Nikon D3X came in today and I was first on the list for Austin! I stayed up with the guys at work for too long and didn't make it to the store to pick it up! But, this weekend it's on my list for sure! I'm going to be making an eBay listing to sell my amazing Nikon D2Xs, which is still in excellent never-dropped condition. If you are interested in buying the D2Xs from me before the eBay auction even starts (saving me a bit of trouble!), please go right ahead and send me an email with "D2Xs" in the subject. I'm going to include my a Premium Texture Video Tutorial for free as well as a signed print. And if you are in the central Texas area, I'll even be glad to meet you in person for the delivery! :)

haha yes - it has some SERIOUS use. I'll post everything in the full ebay ad... but it's never been broken, still a solid camera and just under 45K clicks.

Beautiful Trey, and in answer to your thoughts on what a place such as this is really like; as a former lighthouse keeper, these are very lonely isolated, and of course dangerous locations. Many have witnessed multiple deaths and tragedy, and every now and then, you may even feel the presence of a few lost souls hanging around.

Yes Trey, there was quite the extensive library of discards from one of the libraries from Prince Rupert, but I also kept myself busy by doing some water colour painting. Plenty of old magazines where stacked on the floor grates to block out the noise from the engine room.
I also worked at another Light station called Langara. Well, I didn't actually work on the lighthouse, but was employed to move and install a tsunami detection bubble line there. In my Artwork set, you can see a couple of drawings I did while there.
Back then I did not own a camera, so utilized old weather chart paper, these places were certainly unforgettable. And you can imagine, I really could have used a good camera. Not too many months later is when I got my first slr, of which I still use now and then, the Canon ae-1.

Very nice Picture Trey. There is a reason why I check your page out once a day! I to, just recently upgraded Cameras. Not as extensively as per-se, but I went from an XT to an XTi & got myself a new Wide Angle Lens (10-22).. Soon I will own one of those fancy 5d Mark IIs.

Trey: There are many lighthouses along the stormy Norwegian coastline that offer accomodation, and some can even be rented for periods of time if you so wish.

For starters, check out Kråkenes Fyr by Stadt. This is the stormiest place in Norway, offering great surfing and surely tons of fantastic photo opportunities.
