The Majesty (my largest photo ever)

The Majesty (my largest photo ever) by Stuck in Customs.
If you want to see how I made this (and how you can too!), visit my HDR Tutorial. I hope it gives you some new tricks!

This is one of the largest pieces I have ever made; the giant TIFF is about 21,000 pixels across (this one I uploaded is only 15,000 pixels across and has been downgraded to JPEG to fit inside the draconian upload requirements). I shot it one cool and crisp morning at Glacier National Park in this crystal clear lake that is fed by glacial runoff. It is comprised of 90 different photos that took a small eternity to mix together into an epic HDR. I've been thinking about having a 10-foot mural printed at walk-up resolution... but I am not quite sure where I would put it!

If you want to see the big size, click on ALL SIZES at the top to get to the largest size to see the detail, should you be so inclined!

What an astounding job. I've never tried stitching HDRs - the RAM requirements to process this must have been enormous (or you had to spend an age waiting for paging!). This phenomenal image was well worth the wait though.

Wow hahaha what's your mac, and how many ram you got there.....cause this should be around 1/2gb. (mean the original TIFF).

Amazing tho, perfectly merged!!

I've got a few questions if you want to respond:

You made it manually on CS3 or used any other software?
When have you processed the pan, before or after the merging?
Have you think about the possibility to beat a Guiness record?? ;D

You simply rock dude!!

Thanks everyone! Wow y'all really like this one... here are some comments to try to answer *some* questions.

- Yes, I hate the small default size on Flickr... that doesn't look like a big pano does it?
- There were 90 shots, 3 rows of 10 columns, 3 shots per grid square. The 3 shots were used to make each HDR.
- And yes, my Mac almost melted on the processing... actually, it did on my first 6 tries when the pano went down in flames... learned a lot though!
