Taff Vale Branch Line Viaduct

Taff Vale Branch Line Viaduct by Stuart Herbert.
Unexpectedly, I came across this curious viaduct by following the route of the Merthyr Tramroad. I discovered afterwards that this was built to carry the Merthyr Vale Colliery branch line between the colliery and the Taff Vale railway.

The route I'm following (which goes over the top of the viaduct) is no longer the Merthyr Tramroad. At some point to the south, the Tramroad must have crossed the TVR line, something that I missed completely during my walk.

This photo is taken from a park on the eastern bank of the River Taff, looking south towards the viaduct. The viaduct is on the eastern bank of the Taff.
