bicycling in the rain

bicycling in the rain by striatic.
today i went out bicycling in the rain. this is something i love to do very much, but had not done in some time and forgot about the mud spray.

which meant wiping down my jacket and bag after i got home.

my new bike is great, the devinci stolkholm. road bike wheels on a mountain bike frame. made by a canadian company. light, no shocks, just the essentials and some solid components.

for utata's third iron photographer project .. and also because i promised i'd talk about my new bike.

*giggles* For some reason this shot strikes me as adorable. It's a good shot though. Did you have to scurry across the road, pose, then scurry back? Was it timed or did someone help?

The bicycle sounds similar to what has been called a hybrid bicycle (although I haven't bought a bike for a while, so it might not be called that anymore). Good for urban and bike path (even un-pathed) riding. Good bike. And while we're on the subject, nice helmet.

Yes, a very cool shot. I can understand the need to wipe down the jacket and bag when you arrived home, but what about the camera, perched up on the tripod? I hope it wasn't mud splattered? You are undeniably the iron photographer here, taking self-timed outdoor tripod shots on a muddy and rainy day. :)

well, i don't currently have a tripod, so i put the camera on the opposite curb in the rain.

and, it just sat there getting rained on, taking picutres without complaint.

so it is the iron photographer, not i.

if you check the url to the page about the bike, it is in a path called "hybrid" .. so i think you're right.

edmonton is a river city with steep banks and many trails. i drive a commuter bike in a mountain bike kind of town.

sort of show you where i'm at right now.

Hahahah I wonder if anyone saw you timing this photo!

they did, and looked at me awkwardly.

i mean ... "akwardly" ; )

Extremely cool shot.

and a good picture -- you give the impression of having caught your subject unawares, which is a nice trick in a self portrait.

yeah!

me!

go me! woo!

i even got my hands a little dirty on this one.

the original plan was to sit atop the box, but what with the rain and the angle, it didn't work out.

yes, the damn mud spray - i know want you mean. a mudguard would be an alternative, but a bike looks way better without it!
by the way: fabulous picture!
