Well the n95 might be a more technical phone, but useability-vise the iphone wins hands down.

I would want one if it had a better camera. The n95 rules camera-wise.

I prefer the N95.

But I agree, the iphone is going to change the perception people has about mobile internet, it is going to make it cool. The first time many people access mobile email, mobile web etc will be thru an iphone.

iPhone vs N95.
iPhone brings beauty to the uglies, style to the masses.
Nothing more, nothing else. Is not a major breakthrough like some media is announcing.

At the other side, N95 is practically all-in-one device.
The only side effect is the battery life, kinda sucks.

I mean, compared to iPhone, Nokia N95 really stands out. Cut features in half, make screen a little bigger and you've got an iPhone.

I have the N95 because I'm in Europe, the 3G is awesome, and the camera is very useful.

I am waiting for the next generation of iPhone, and if that doesn't have 3G then I'm not going to bother until the 3rd Gen :P

The new N95 8GB has a larger screen and better battery, so that eliminates any doubt for me and puts it on top - although I wish they'd have added the new Xenon flash that's on the N82. Now if OpenMoko could just get their act together, we'd have something worthy to compare against...sorry iPhone!

i was on the fence for a while but decided to get the n95 8gb.
the iphone is still not available in portugal (apart from 'import' mode and jailbraking) and still no 3g.

next year we'll get a 3g version and probably even a legal way to get them... we'll see.

i'm really glad i got the nokia. it's brilliant.

I had the N95 before my iphone, the N95 has som cool applications, but they don't work optimal. The iPhone does also have cool applications, some are cool'er than the applications on the N95 and some are not. But in the end it all works perfect on the iPhone but not on the N95.

iPhone is a BIG WINNER!!!

Before the new N95 firmware came out, I would have said the iPhone, just for the issues I had with my N95 concerning battery power (I should NOT have to charge my phone EVERY NIGHT), as well as the response time of the phone for a few functions (especially the camera). With the new firmware, these issues have been fixed (camera now starts up in <2 seconds, phone is far more responsive, and battery life has pretty much doubled).

The iPhone has a lovely design and it's a cracking bit of kit for the casual user, but for sheer 'useability' (I love having a keypad - screw the on-screen QWERTY, it's a PHONE for God's sake), features (MMS, GPS, etc.), and the ability to expand upon what you've already bought (3rd party applications, themes, etc.) it's N95 all the way. The camera is incredible, and while the mobile internet is a little better on the iPhone, it's still perfectly easy to use on the N95 (tip: download Opera Mini instead of the built-in browser). SymbianOS is also a big plus.

Oh, and you're not forced into the appalling monopoly of being tied to one mobile network provider, as well as spending untold amounts on Apple accessories and the like. Plus you avoid becoming just another Apple fanboy :P

Well, the N95 does everything (and I mean everything), and does most of it very well. The iPhone looks better, has a nice user interface, but lacks many of the features of the N95 and the lack of 3G is a killer. What good is a nice browser on that large screen if you're stuck at EDGE speed? I guess you have something pretty to look at while you're waiting for the webpage to download. :)

I do have an N95-1 and am sometimes longing for an iPhone due to the UI and the bigger browser. Feature-wise, the N95 is a killer though - and it starts with basics such as bluetooth support for anything else but headphones....

The N95 is like using WinXP & the iPhone a Mac.

I sometimes also wish there'd be a real hardware mod to the N95 cover, especially a seamless integration of the display into the metal frame (~one level). The N95 so often reminds me of a prototype, and the upcoming N96 is just a prove of that assumption...

I have both (just upgraded from my N95 to the iPhone) and while the N95 is a better phone and camera, it doesn't really compare to the iPhone. The iPhone is a sweet package - where else can I remote control my iTunes, send my GPS position to a friend, quickly see local user recommended hotels and restaurants, etc?

I'm glad Apple is kicking some ass in the mobile arena - Nokia and co have been dicking us around with crap devices for far too long.

The N95 is 100x better than the iPhone.
The only area where the iPhone is better is with the navigation in menus (cause its touchscreen)

@ Dave: you can do such things a lot better with the N95> There are lot of nice apps, which are not available on iPhone, on the N95.. look at GPSed, or Bluetooth remote control, Nmaps etc.. Ihave over 50 apps on my N95 with some which are amazing!

N95 is much better! You can see this, N95 powered by S60 os, and it's an open OS, that can run MyPhone, which easily turn S60 UI into iPhone UI. and you can test and run iPhone style UI at N95. so easy! And can iPhone do so?

N95 wins, that's why I have an N95 (great phone, decent camera) and an iTouch (great MP3 player, decent internet tablet). Between the two I have pretty much the best of everything I need.

The iPhone is a great device, but it's not actually that great when you look at it in terms of it being a PHONE. The N95 is a much more mature device and it shows. Still, not a bad first effort from Apple, certainly. But it's pretty certain that anybody who actually knows anything about phones will always go with the great functionality of the N95 vs the aesthetics of the iPhone.

Yes, there are hundreds of thousands of iPhone apps, of which about 0.00001% are actually useful in some way. The rest are fart machines and frivolous, idiotic apps that have no functionality whatsoever.

A handful of decent apps for N95 (will work on most Symbian phones):

Qik: stream live video from your phone (iPhone has the app, but a crap camera)
Google Maps: plus Latitude, totally awesome
Flipsilent: silence ringing phone when you turn it over
JoikuSpot/Walking Hotspot: share your phone's 3G connection as a wifi hotspot
Fring/Nimbuzz: combine VoIP, IM and phone in one app
Nokia Conversation beta: alternative interface for SMS
vNES: NES emulator
TruPhone: great VoIP client
Internet radio: listen to online radio streams
Garmin Ultra: improved GPS
Panoman: take high resolution panoramic photos
Step Tracker/Sports Counter: uses accelerometer/GPS to act like a pedometer, with plenty of stats
Y-browser/Xplorer: Symbian OS file manager
Then there's BBC iPlayer, HourPower, Handy TaskMan, RemindMe, FontRouter, Calcium, FreeTones, Opera Mini...

You can easily find more on Google.
