Better to photograph them than to eat them because pears are ripe for 1/2 and hour and its when you're never there.

@Monkey Magic - no tricks, just converted to BW using mostly the green channel, adjusted levels then colorised using hue/sat to give it some warmth. The only retouching was getting rid of some dog hairs off the darkcloth background.....
The lighting was just daylight (direct sun actually) filtered thru a white roller blind.

@Cheri - LOL...out of season pears stay like bullets for a while longer...these bad boys will be eaten soon enough though
