Chrome's blank tab stateBookmarks bar, simply drag any of the links below up here so that it will become permanently attached to your bookmarks. Most visited sites with screenshots enables me to use visual rather than textual memory. Recent bookmarks would be useful when your most used bookmarks are taking up the bookmark bar above and you want to see something you've recently cataloged. Recently closed tabs, paticularly useful when you use the wrong shortcut (for instance CTRL + W or Q for close window or quit application!) and you need that last tab.
Check out the notes for the details, but I'm in love with Google's handling of blank state.
This photo has notes. Move your mouse over the photo to see them.
And for all you speed freaks out there, the blank state showed above came up approximately as fast as opening a new blank tab in IE7 or Firefox on Vista, so there's no slowdown involved with this extra functionality.
