Alton Towers/Funderland Fun fair/Drayton Manor 16th/17th March 2008

Alton Towers opened this weekend and was opening its new land Mutiny Bay. They had advertised for there new splash battle ride a pirate day. Where they were attempting to take the Guinness World Record for people dressed as pirates in attendance at one place. The previous record had been set on the filming of Pirates Of The Caribbean films.
Unfortunately the turn out was a lot lower than expected and they only got around 500 pirates. While they were hoping for 1200 to show up.
Even though the event was not successful, it did make for a brilliant atmosphere on the day. Plus there were some great pirates there, including a Jack Sparrow look alike, who was great. Plus the Whitby Pirates Association, who allowed me to take some good shots of them.
Doctor Haze from the Circus Of Horrors was the coordinator at the front gate for the event. We got to meet him and have a good chat with him. Really cool as we are dedicated Circus Of Horrors fans. He was out of make up and this was the second time i have met him. He was a really friendly and approachable guy.
After the park we headed for Funderpark Stoke Fun Fair for an hour.
We finished the weekend at Drayton Manor for the new Thomas Land. With the new Troublesome Trucks roller coaster and a second great day of fun. We ended up doing Thomas Land and the new themed rides for over 4 hours.
