SJSU Skateboarders, Bikes & Safety |
This is a collection of photos related
to the use of bicycles, skateboards,
razors and other related vehicles in and
around SJSU. It also shows folks who may
be literally impacted by them. These are
random photos of life under the
so-called bike ban at SJSU, the ban that
some wish to repeal.
As you look at these photos ask
yourself, how many of the bicyclists
shown here are wearing helmets? Some
are, most are not!
Are all these bikes safe to ride in
traffic or among crowds of pedestrians?
Are they being ridden safely? Most
folks ride on the streets and sidewalks
to get to campus. Do most of these folks
ride in urban downtown San Jose safely?
Are they even taught how to?
Last, ask why do we need to be able to
ride the last couple of hundred feet to
our classrooms anyway, isn't just
getting to campus enough?
I believe the current lack of
enforcement of the presidential
directive regarding bicycle riding on
campus, and the wording of the most
recent directive, creates a dangerous
condition of public property as defined
by California Codes Government Code
Section 835-835.4.
