The Resolution Clock effigy burning on New Year's Eve in Austin Texas as part of the First Night 2009 celebration, December 31, 2008. First Night is a family friendly celebration of the New Year held annually in Austin Texas since 2005.

Yes, actually, I was kissed by the fire. One ember burned my hat and another landed on my collar and fell down the back of my shirt. No harm done, but it was a little wake-up call.

Kei was afraid of the fire at first, so we told her the embers were "pixie dust" (she loves Peter Pan). We were watching from the South First Bridge, so no harm done.

Great capture! Here's mine. This shows a bit detail on what it looked like before it got to this point. Yeah from the South First street Bridge! I happened to drag my tripod and my 70-300 with me. Spontaneous shot.
