Common Ivy Bonsai Tree (Hedera helix) showing new growth.
The tree almost died during the harsh winter of 2010 and the dark green leaves seen here are all the growth produced during 2011. The light green leaves are what the tree has grown over the past couple of months after being brought inside and placed on the kitchen windowsill to avoid any frost this winter.
The little Ivy bonsai is now outside enjoying some warm spring air.
It is around 9 inches tall and is planted in a glazed drum stoneware bonsai pot.
The trunk is around 5 inches in diameter.
