This photo has been stolen by so many people that I suppose hiding it is useless at this point. I guess that I am more famous now than before.

Hillarious. I've been tempted by the idea of setting up something similar, but with an open side to the straw, and photographing the bird's tongue as it reaches down for the nectar.

OOOOOOOoh MY GOSH !!!! I am applauding you and your efforts on this one. How imaginative you are. I can't believe you actually got the hummer to drink out of the straw. Are you sure this isn't all photoshop? Excellent in every way....perfect light, sharpness, exposure, cropping, color, and BACKGROUND. Your hard work definitely paid off. This needs to be on a magazine cover. Do you ever submit your pics to the "Bird and Bloom" magazine? It's not exactly National Geographic but I'm sure they'd go nuts over your bird pics. You've got to do more with these than just entertain us here at Flickr. This is just GREAT.....sorry I was the catalyst to moving you away from the garbage can...but this is a real humdinger.

not only a smile but a good chuckle too!......There is just something special about connecting with a feathered friend, they knowing that there is no danger with you. We find that out Bluebirds actually want to hang out with us on the porch now and then.....and of course, that would include a mealworm treat.
