Marine graveyard

Marine graveyard

This collection of dilapidated boats is more than a mile from the nearest navigable watercourse. There's nothing to indicate why the owner of the land is accumulating these hulls. There's no apparent work to restore them, or to otherwise dismantle them or use them for spares.

Ware Drill Hall

Ware Drill Hall

Ware Operatic Society held a gala cabaret evening in the Ware Drill Hall on Friday 26th November 2011. The Drill Hall was designed by Vivian Young of Westminster and built in 1899 by J Simpson and Son of Paddington. According to Wikipedia, a drill hall is where soldiers practice and perform military drill. Many of these halls were built through public subscriptions in order to support the local Volunteer Force which was raised in the late 1850s. This is a good example of a late 19th Century drill hall with a particularly interesting roof structure.
