This is one of the most photographed locations on the Colorado river -- a horseshoe bend located just south of the town of Page Arizona.
Pull off Hwy 89 and hike about a half mile to witness this for yourself. It's a must see and this photograph does not convey the depth and magnitude of this spot.
To take this photo, I had to lay on my stomach with my tripod extended out over the edge of the canyon wall about two feet. It was windy and the sand pelted my skin. This was one of the toughest shots I've ever taken as I'm not a fan of heights!!
For this shot, I used a Canon 5D with a Canon 17-40mm f/4.0 L USM, Gitzo Tripod with a RRS BH55-LR Ballhead. I also used a Singh-Ray hard step Galen Rowell ND filter.

Beautiful capture. If you didn't mind me asking, what f-stop Singh-Ray hard stop Galen Rowell ND filter did you use for this shot? I am curious because I am not a landscape photographer but I will be visiting this site as well as the grand canyon in april and I'd like to take some shots that my kids can look back at and be taken back to that trip in the future.
