Statue of Leifr Eiricsson at Hallgrimskirkja Cathedral, Reykjavik, Iceland

The statue was a gift to the people of Iceland from the people of the United States of America in 1930, celebrating the 1000th anniversary of the founding of Iceland's Parliament - the oldest democracy in the world. Hallgrimskirkja Cathedral is Iceland's tallest building, dominating the landscape of Reykjavik.
