I7ve been looking for something like this,
thanks! Btw, is there some kind of
"switch" to turn it on/off?

yes, if you go to the tools/manage user
scripts control panel, you can disable or
re-enable the script there :)
another way to quickly disable the script
temporarily is to click the monkey icon at
the bottom of the browser, which disables
greasemonkey entirely, then reload the page.
obviously to turn it back on just click the
monkey icon again.

Ah! I thought one was only able to uninstall
scripts from there, but now I found the
"enable" checkbox. Perfect.
Btw, Im looking forward to an upgrade of
this script where one can change parameters
for different colors (Ie the blue text
against the black bg-color looks terrible :)

if you read the description at the top of the
page, you will notice i mention:
"if anyones got a better color scheme
for the links and text please let me know.
" so... as i said... if you have a better
suggestion for the colour scheme, please let
me know, cheers...
btw in the tools/manage user scripts
control panel, you can edit the script
itself, and can put in whatever colours you
fancy :)

i made a few color schemes, the one i like
the most is this
(blue scheme)
background #2f5281
links #bccee6
visited #6a92c8
i think this is really cool, though if the
bugs were worked out, i would use it all the
time :)

glitch, thanks for your input, btw ive just
fixed the bug with the notes, where the note
boxes were displaying with a solid black
background and blocking out parts of the pic,
please reinstall the script for the fixed
version.

Working well with flickr gamma. I changed to
the blue theme and it looks good -- I just
need to update the flickr logo :p. Thanks!

kevin, if u do update the logo, please post a
link to it here, and i may add it to the
script. ideally we need a logo that is
antialiased to a transparent background (if
such a thing is possible) so if people change
the colour scheme it will still fit in.

jhaan, you need to edit the following part of
the script:
background: black ! important; color: white
!important } :link, :link * { color: #3333FF
!important } :visited, :visited * { color:
#9933FF
the values begining with # are HTML
"colour space" values
the first 2 digits are the Red component,
second 2 are Green and 3rd 2 are Blue, the
numbers are Hexadecimal (base 16) you can
find more info about HTML colour values via
google. you can also use colour names rather
than numeric values as in the case of the
background color, which is simply
"black" and the text colour which
is "white"

im glad you like the scripts. ive updated
this script a bit.

ive replaced the graphical parts of the
main flickr menu with text links, to give the
pages a more consistent look. though i havent
got the menus working 100% the way they
normally do, they dont go away if you click
outside of them, though if you click the menu
button a second time, they do go away.
ive made the background of the flickr logo
transparent, and ive also made it easier to
edit the pages colours, see the script for
more info. at some point i might make a menu
with colour sliders to let you adjust the
colours, but for now, its just a simple
matter of editing the values in the script.
new version of script can be got from the
same places as usual.

clashed with my other script Flickr Contacts
Organiser, so ive updated Flickr Contacts

howdy, I have the script installed on a
MacBook Pro OSX 10.4.9, running Firefox
2.0.0.4 w/ GM and I'm unable to get the
blackness to do its thing.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot? I've
already tried refreshing the page and
restarting the browser and machine. thanks
for any help!

steev, when I use flickr shades on some photo
streams the pictures dont show up. If I turn
it off no problem. I have the newest firefox
running on my mac. It is easily fixed by
shutting off flickr shades but I love shades
and would prefer to not have to turn it off
all the time.
Thanks for any assistance!

I fixed the spaceball issue: "images
"protected" with a spaceball, have
a big gap between the image and the comments
for some reason"
Instead of:
dimgs[a].setAttribute('style','background-c
olor:transparent !important;border:0px solid
transparent; !important');
do:
dimgs[a].setAttribute('style','display:
none !important;');

Tom, i will have a look at it when i get a
chance, can u give me an example of a stream
it doesnt work on? thanks.
Code Martial, thanks for the tip, though i think i tried
that before, and seem to remember that it
affected something else badly, if my memory
serves me right it was the notes
functionality, i will have another look when
i get a chance, thanks.

@steeev: It seems like your version of the
code works if the following CSS is used along
with it:
.photoImgDiv img {
display:none!important;
}
.photoImgDiv .reflect, .ContextTop {
display:inline!important;
}
I can see notes but I can't see the author
of a note and there's a fixed-width rectangle
that sticks out on the right side of each
note. No idea how to fix it.

I cannot see the links at the top, or the all
sizes, add note, etc. above the picture. Is
there a fix to this, and if so, how do I do
it?

Ive added a colourscheme editor function to
the script, you can access the new function
via the Firefox Tools Menu, then select
Greasemonkey, then Select "UserScript
Commands" then select "Flickr
Shades Colour Scheme Editor" Reinstall
the script to get the new function. I just
realised you can also access this menu simply
by right clicking on the monkey icon at the
bottom right of the browser.

Flickr Shades seems to break some pages.
E.g., if I go to www.flickr.com/photos/lenlangevin/sets/721576
03778376563/, I don't see any photos if Flickr Shades is
enabled.
