Flickr PM - A GM script that adds Useful links next to usernames on Flickr
Ive written a GreaseMonkey script compatible with FireFox and Google Chrome called "Flickr PM"
It adds a little envelope icon next to usernames in flickr forums and
individual photo pages, clicking the icon pops up a window that sends
lets you compose and send a flickr mail to that user without leaving
your current page. It also adds a linked icon for the users
favourites, profile, photo archive, list of interesting photos, a link
to Flickr Scout and Flickr Inspector and also to InterestingBy, which
lists that users photos in order of Interestingness.
I've added FlickrPM functionality to search pages, contact list pages, recent activity and comments you've made pages. Ive also added a link "SC" that takes you to Flickr Scout, which shows which of that users images are featured in the Explore pages and a link "FI" to Flickr Inspector which gives you detailed info and stats on that user.
LATEST UPDATES
- 15th Sep 2009 added FlickrPM functionality to Gallery pages.
- 16th Oct 2009 added "RE" - change relationship link , renamed text links.
- 18th Jun 2010 script is now also compatible with Safari, Opera and Google Chrome!
- 4th Aug 2010 fixed script to work on new photo pages (still needs a few tweaks)

What's the PM stand for anyway?
steeev (95 months ago | reply)
Thanks guys.
Megs, thats a good question, i was wondering when someone was going to ask that :)
PM = Private Message or Personal Message
Originally the script just added the email link, it now has a few more features, but i kind of like Flickr PM now, though if anyones got any cool suggestions for a new name, im all ears :)

Steeev, i've been meaning to thank you immensely for your work on this. I use it and absolutely LOVE it - it saves so much time drilling down to where i need to see a user's profile or send them a message.
You deserve a Flicky! (Well, i'm not sure i'd wish that on my own enemy! heh) but thanks so much anyway!
How about the name UserBar?
steeev (93 months ago | reply)
glad you like it zen, and thanks for the name suggestion.

This is very cool, but I was wondering if there was a way to turn off certain functions, either globally or just in certain places? For example, I'd probably never use the Scout or Flickr Inspector buttons on a pictures page, so I'd love to prevent those from popping up.
Not knocking the script because a lot of people can use that - I just like a little less clutter... Thanks in advance!
hangglide (74 months ago | reply)
This script is great. I use it all the time. I like martydx's above suggestion too. I think I may just try to edit it myself.
I do have one feature request. Can you add a link to FlickrLeech?
For example:
www.flickrleech.net/user/hangglide
steeev (74 months ago | reply)
support for flickrleech is in the code already, while you are editing the script the way you want it, you just need to uncomment 1 line to enable flickr leech support.
hangglide (74 months ago | reply)
I see that. Great stuff. You can also comment other lines to remove stuff. Neat.
ToniVC (72 months ago | reply)
Wonderful script! I make use of it daily!
But, may I suggest something? Well, the "View Photo Archive" button gives a view based on the date the pictures were taken ( www.flickr.com/photos/whatever/archives/date- taken/ ). I don't find this very useful because usually people wants to see the last POSTED pictures. So, I always change the code to view the last posted pictures: www.flickr.com/photos/whatever/archives/date- posted/ or even better www.flickr.com/photos/whatever/archives/date- posted/detail/. You can argue this is just what you get when you view someone's main page, true. But the difference is that you override the main page's layout so you usually see more pictures on a single page...
Could it be possible to change it, or even better: to allow people to select which view (from a group of options) do they want to get when selecting that option without having to modify the code?
Thanks :)

When I loaded this, I had a conflict that stopped my comment "icon reply" from working. If you are having trouble with the icon reply script, move this script to the top in the GM Manager window and it may work. It fixed mine but may depend on what scripts you have loaded.

Steev -- I love this script. Thanks once agaain.
PepeIza [deleted] (65 months ago | reply)
Stevee , the script is awesome, I am still trying to figure it out all the functionality of it, and I would like to ask you if there is possible to add an icon that tells you the relationship of that person with you ?.
Thank you very much for all your work.
ToniVC (65 months ago | reply)
It seems the send Flickrmail option suddenlty stopped working. It stays forever on "Sending Mail..." until I click "Close", and the mail is never sent. Would you please check it? Flickr PM is one of the most valuable GM scripts I use and now it has lost one of the most used functions!
Also, would you please check this old post?: www.flickr.com/photos/steeev/29246675/comment 721576005725...
Thanks a lot! :)

I like the idea, concept, and look...but it seems to have disabled my icon reply capabilities. I tried it with and without this script, and it is definitely what causes a problem, but I really like both. Can they be made compatible? Using yours for now...

whoops! Just saw Jim's comment. I will try that solution. :)

steeev: first of all, thanks for this script, it's tremendously useful!
lately, the "INT" link hasn't been working and I suppose it's not just for me..?interestingby.isaias.com.mx/ leads to "This Account Has Been Suspended" and "Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible." at this URL: zion.quetzal-hosting.com/suspended.page/
who would need to be encouraged (and how) to get this going again?
thanks for taking a look
drayde (55 months ago | reply)
@beegee74: yes, it's not just you... :-(
drayde (55 months ago | reply)
I'm working on a replacement for the service INT links.
Anyone interested in beta testing it?
drayde (55 months ago | reply)
steeev was so kind and added my new service to the official flickrPM script. So in order to get the INT link working again, just reinstall the script from steeev's server (links above).
Thanks steeev!
If anyone has problems with the service or has other feedback, don't hesitate and send me a FlickrMail.
