This is a shot i've been trying to get for a few days however i'm still not sure i'm there yet.

It's all too samey...

It is however my birthday on Sunday. I must be getting boring in my old age.

This is a great idea. I think I understand your concerns, have you tried a different angle, perhaps with the camera actually lying on the ground and pointing a little bit up (pick up some OOF flagstones on the patio there).
