Description: Interior view of George E. Adams' cake shop in Brisbane Arcade, around 1938. Four women, dressed in uniforms and caps (possibly with hair nets attached at the back), are standing behind the counter which has an old cash register and two very large kitchen scales on it. The counter is filled with rich cakes and pastries including shortbreads, jam rolls, fruit cakes and iced sponge cakes, all piled high on top of the doily-lined shelves. The bottom shelf of the cabinet has fresh hen laid eggs for sale. The sign in the front window appears to read 'G. E. Adams. Rich Cake Specialist'.
