Hey Miles, you are getting wet!
I have been holding onto this photo for some cold moment to remind me of that wonderful day at Trillium Lake overlooking Mt. Hood when I first met
Gary Randall and the irrascable and kind hearted Miles the flyboy (mm767cap), as well as dear sweet
SarahMcD
and her girls..
Miles gets right in there after the comp he desires, as we all know from reading his outrageously colorful and hilarious descriptions of his adventures in search of learning and getting "THE SHOT"
If I am not mistaken this is when Gary and Miles first met also, as well as Gary and Sarah and Miles and Sarah! Gary had invited me up to come shoot sunset with him, and while I was there shooting and waiting for him I started talking to other photographers setting up and I remember how new to all this photog stuff Miles managed to sound.... now go look at his photography and you will see it was all a big scam! Just kidding Miles... you have a delightful lack of "big ego" that allows you to truly laugh at yourself and the situation and find the joy within the situation that is dear to my heart!

winter hit the lower valleys today, creating mystical journeys of anticipation as I drove uphill to work in Trout Lake... started at 8:15am with a few flakes mixed with the rain on my window... by the time I went through BZ Corners it was all snow but the ground was not yet white... another 5 miles and the world was magically carpeted with a white blanket that grew thicker as I drove uphill... still nothing like the snow yesterday up by Mt. Adams (see the links below) but sure a lot of lacy fun!
Slippery, too.. after I pulled over by the big barn past the Buffalo Ranch, I spun sideways and swished side to side a bit as I gently tried to pull back onto the highway... and that is with studs and weight in the back of my pickup! Wheeeeee!!!!
so fun!

Ok, that is enough now...
After much frolicking about through the foot and a half of snow Rio came to a halt in the snow filled tire track as if she was done now, home was calling.... but I was still digging out my truck

Nearly Snowbound for the Winter!
... but fortunately the wonderful fella who takes care of this high altitude rock quarry was in the process of getting LONG roads plowed for lots of money so he could escape WITH his trailer... after getting caught by surprise by the intensity of this snow storm sweeping through the area.

Do you have any idea how challenging it could be to get some one to plow 5 or 6 miles of high mountain roads that normally never get plowed, or how much money that might cost? I heard quotes of between 800 to 900 American dollars, which is probably cheap under the circumstances...
for the beginning of the story see the first photo below... about getting stuck and all that
