Soap Bubble

The Motif

A soap bubble - created for our son Richard - was heading toward the hedge of our garden. If you take a close look at it on the original size, you can identify parts of our house in the bubble.

Even that it's not a macro it was taken with the EF-S 60mm Macro-lens mounted on a Canon EOS 350D (=Rebel XT). This is by far the best lens I owe so far, and it has a wonderful bokeh. The real problem in shooting bubbles is that as soon as there is some background available (in contradiction to nothing but emtpy sky) the autofocus will focus on the background. Using manual focus is either not an easy task on them, as the slightest wind will move it out of focus, and there is always wind where we live. Shot in RAW format and processed in Adobe Camera Raw. Postproduction only for cropping, noise reduction and unsharp masking.
