Milky Way Vortex

I managed to guess the celestial pole (the center of the spin) from one the previous shots at this same location here. It was a bit of a wild guess.

Milky Way

Now that I've had a taste of star shooting I want more. Any good locations in Canberra? Bear in mind the light pollution. All the light you see on trees and the grass is from our camp fire some 100 meters away.

Lessons learned from this: lower your exposure, bump your ISO to 6400. Noise can be easily removed with Noiseware or Noise Ninja. I'm using Noiseware.

Any tips?
