Abstract Sketch 10

Abstract Sketch 10

Lesson 10 - To complete the Art design on the Fabric I first penciled in the design. You can see the original pencil sketch in the sample photo's I posted for lesson 9. Once this was completed I used a .25 mm pen to outline it and then used a .50 mm pen to fill in the surrounding area. In next lesson post I will cover completing the fabric area beneath the woman's elbow.

Abstract Sketch 9c

Abstract Sketch 9c

Lesson 9c - I completed the woman by adding "curved lines" to her arms, torso and also just above the neck line. You can view my technique posts on my Flickr site at www.flickr.com/stacyvaughn68 for practicing purposes but all this involves is making small curved lines and keeping them tight and uniformed. You can layer these also to add shading to whatever you use this technique on. I layered each of these three separate times. By doing this it takes a 2 dimensional object and make it 3 dimensional. Try and not go to far over into the Tribal body art...just enough to add shadow. Since this piece is "abstract", I am not to worried about where my source of light is on this piece but just keep in mind IF you do have a source of light (sun, moonlight, etc...) then if it's on the right then your shadows must fall to the left and vice versa. In next post I will cover technique used to complete the fabric the woman is holding. Any questions just ask.

Lesson 9a - Once I had completed the Body tribal at design I then used my .30 mm pen and just stippled along the penciled outline ( woman's right arm ). I then used the same size pen and filled in the design by using a tight uniformed stippling. Remember to do your best to keep uniformed whether you begin with a tight stippling pattern or loose. In next lesson post I'll complete the "fill in" of the design. Any questions just ask.
