The bird is not photoshopped; it's a seagull with a good sense of composition. ;)

A lot of places in Newfoundland really do give the feeling of standing on the edge of the earth -- maybe that's why we thought it was flat for so long?

For some reason I really like taking photos of these rent-a-scopes left pointing wherever the last user chose.

The annual Newfoundland spectacle of the capelin (tiny sardine-like fish) being hurled onto the beach by waves as they try to mate in the shallow water. Capelin are edible (according to some, I'll pass) so people from all around try to jump out and catch them in nets before the water warms and the season is over.
