Strobist info: Using a 430EX II on full manual. Shooting through an umbrella, perpendicular to the focal plane, about 1 ft to his left.. and more or less at his level. Shot in a small room so, the white walls are acting as reflectors to diffuse the light around him.

Shot a cover photo for a song we neighbors cobbled together :)

Strobist info: shot manual through an umbrella at full power. Umbrella was about a feet away from the subjects...just over their heads. Each portrait was shot separately and combined later.

On the left you see the eclipsed moon over golden gate bridge and on the right you see a half eclipsed and fully eclipsed moon..

If you think that it is tricky to shoot the moon.. try shooting an eclipsed one. There is too little light and the damn thing moves faster than you think. Bumping up the ISO somewhat helps.. but the noise artifacts are somewhat unbearable..
