Insomnia coffee shop & Skyline Chili @ High & 13th. Insomnia was open all night I believe, and had a patio out front that was always packed with scary/interesting people.

As I heard it, both Skyline and Insomnia were pushed out of this building by Campus Partners, who let on that it would be torn down and become some kind of office space or apartments. Instead, the building remained as-is and became a trendy Asian bar/restaurant.

Skyline moved a few blocks down the street, but was never successful and soon closed, leaving OSU's Cincinnatians without a place to get their hometown fix. Insomnia never resurfaced.

This was the first place I ever ate Skyline Chili when I first came to Columbus back in 1996. I asked for a regular bowl of chili and the waitress looked at me like I had three heads.

I hung out ther in the '80's and it was the collest place on campus!! People were welcome to write/draw on the bathroom walls. There was always off the grid music playing and it was a place to just hang and shoot the shyt!! Yes, it did stay open all night back then and only closed for 3 hours on sun. for cleaning.

that's awesome! Nowadays I'd try it out but back then, I wasn't so adventurous! Sounds like a real gem, shame that it closed.
